A very warm hello and welcome to my website.

I am a published author, editor, creative writing tutor and ghost (not the scary kind). I have written ten works of fiction and non-fiction under my own name and the pseudonym Thomas Black. I have also ghostwritten a dozen more titles, several of which have been international bestsellers.

For the last five years, I have been a regular tutor for the Faber Academy, for whom I have written and teach seven courses: Writing A Novel, Work in Progress, Write A Short Story In A Weekend, Create Brilliant Characters, Plot, Setting and Read Like A Writer. I am also Director of Fiction for the Professional Writing Academy, where I run courses on crime and genre fiction. I have also taught and run workshops for a number of festivals and organisations, including CrimeFest, Stratford Literary Festival, the John O'Connor Festival of Writing, the Literary Consultancy's Literary Adventure and Casa Ana's Mentoring Retreat.

Having previously been a commissioning editor and publisher, I continue to work as an editorial consultant and mentor for a number of publishers, literary agencies and organisations, and also in a private capacity. Locally, I host the Salisbury Writing Circle -- a community of new and experienced writers alike. I write a weekly column on the arts (sort of) for the Salisbury Journal and a monthly book review column for Wiltshire Living Magazine.

I am also one of the founders and director of Salisbury Literary Festival, which has been running since 2017.

On this website, you'll find details about the sort of things I get up to, as well as contact information if you'd like to get in touch. Many thanks for visiting!
